The Centre of Underwater Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of History from the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv University - only scientific-social organization in Ukraine, what in the course for fourteen years consecutive made a research of shelf the Black Sea in Crimea.

The Centre of Underwater Archaeology support diverse relations whith a great deal scientific-research organizations of the world, which specialize in underwater archaeological researches of ancient shipwrecks, and ancient ports.

Example, in a research season of 1997 post-graduate students from The Institute of Nautical Archaeology of the University of Texas Greg Gidden, Kristin Romey (also she take part in expedition of year 2000 in Noviy Svit near Sudak) and Taras Pevny participated in the expedition. They got acquainted with the results of scientific research of their Kyiv University colleagues in Crimea and also shared their experience working in underwater research expeditions of Texas University.
